HD DVD (high-definition digital versatile disc) is a new, high-capacity
format for DVD capable of storing and playing high-definition images. Using
advanced technology, an HD DVD is densely layered and read by a thinner laser
than conventional standard DVDs. This means that an HD DVD can store up to five
times the amount of data that a standard DVD can.
